Letters are still a primary form of communication, especially between locations or countries. While a letter could arrive the same day in the same city, other locations, mail travels with the ships, trains and planes. it could take a few days to a week for mails to arrive in other locations, depending on conditions. Telegrams are quick, following the cables under the ocean. They travel through the telegram offices only, but are a method to get very short messages across great distances in a pinch.

Rotary phones and Ham Radios are white spread, but not without a plethora of issues. Phones only work if the cables are intact or exist to an area - generally cities only. These are landlines connected to a building and cannot travel with anyone. Payphone booths are wildly available if you have the coin and know the number. Phone books are not always accurate, but available to look people up. Phones can easily be tapped by Law Enforcement, military and Hunters; you may never know who is listening. Ham radios are more reliable and can reach rural areas, ships and can be carried albeit heavy. However, these too can be intercepted by anyone who finds the signal.
